I can see that a subset of consulting assignments might be able to say: “the return was x * fees”, but this is not the norm for projects I have been involved in. This makes the methodology the MCA uses to claim a £56bn value for the industry a little suspect. The amounts that the industry “gives back” due to innovation, training, and pro bono are fine, but I don’t have a feel for how this £345m compares to any other £9bn industry. And 99% satisfied or very satisfied just doesn’t equate with my experience listening to government. Bad question framing, I would suggest.
